ERICK CONVINCES PROSECUTORS TO DROP CHARGES AGAINST CLIENT CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

Erick's client was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the client went after his neighbor with a butcher knife.  The incident was one of many altercations between these neighbors.  This time, however, Erick's client was arrested.  Following his release from jail, the client hired Erick to represent him.  Erick immediately suggested to the client to seek a mental health evaluation.  The client also moved out of the neighborhood, which helped deescalate the situation.

Erick spoke to the prosecutor and informed her that the client was undergoing psychological treatment and was planning on moving out of the neighborhood permanently.  Erick also informed the prosecutor that this incident was in response to previous altercations and provocations from the neighbor.  Within 30 days of the arrest, the prosecutor agreed to dismiss the case against the client.  The client, who had concerns about his immigration status, was relieved to have the case against him dropped so that he could continue with his plans of becoming a U.S. citizen.
